The Oasis of The Holy Family of Nazareth
Introduction to Booklet - Story of a Vision.
I think that everyone wants to believe that life has a meaning and that their own life has
a meaning, and the experience that is described here centres on this theme of 'positive understanding'. It records part of a vision that I have experienced as a central part of my own journey through Life, and it offers people an insight into a view of Life
that is beautiful, true, loving, and functional:-'A New Way' that although idealistic, is I am assured, a perfectly practical, possible one for each individual to Follow.- (Maureen.)
Chapter 1 Reciprocal Love
It is difficult to explain exactly how and when my experiences began. I suppose it developed gradually and imperceptibly through a period of time in my life when I was forced to
be unusually still. Normally I am the sort of person who finds it difficult to relax, sit still, clear my mind of the clutter and stresses of daily life. However, a bout in bed with chest and back trouble enforces at least the physical stillness. Perhaps
at these times of heightened sensitivty, vunerability, dependency, God takes his opportunity. Anyway he did with me. Jesus and Mary filtered through into my consciousness in a strange, yet somehow very natural, unobstrusive and gentle way. The vioces,
although somehow part of me were quite clearly not me- they were quite distinct from my own consciousness. Ofcourse I was worried, frightened, questioned my own sanity.,equilibrium, the force of my subconscious mind etc. etc. but the vioces were gentle yet
persistent, developing their themes initially through song or poetry, to which I could relate.Strange things happened Mary would talk about a certain theme-take for example 'love' or 'suffering'. Later in the day I would open the Oxford Book of Poems
at a page where exactly the same theme was being discussed. This sort of thing happened far too frequently for it to be coincidental. My husband by this time was involved in the experience; in sincerity there was no way I could keep it from him. More so, although
he is kind and gentle,he has a solid, practical, down-to-earth kind of reasoning that I knew would bring me too down to earth with a bang if there were any signs of unbalance or abnormality. However Joe too was unable to explain the whole phenomenon in human
terms.
Mary and Jesus quite clearly have a sense of humour. Sometimes in desperation we would challenge them and so the authenticity of the whole affair.
One night Joe
casually said:-'Ask Mary to tell you her favourite fruit.' I did this, and Mary gently urged us to find the Bible and open it at random. So we did, and discovered to our amazement that the page described the parable of the fig tree.Laughingly we turned the
pages, and for three times consecutively we found figs mentioned.
Around Christmas 1987 a really extraordinary event happened. For days a line from an old song- and certainly one which had no real appeal to me - had been running around and around in my head;I was unable to push it away:-
" Only a rose I'll give you" - I mentioned this to Joe. A week before Christmas, looking through the window into the garden,my eyes focused on a climbing rose bush- totally bare as this was a June flowering climber- but not quite. There on a stark, leafless branch grew a solitary rose-bud.On Christmas Day the bud bloomed- a perfect rose. Wehave a photograph. You can guess what the next song was :-
'I never promised you a rose garden'
Other amazing things happened until our
scepticism and incredulity were crushed. Meanwhile I had begun to write 'Tha Messages', they were becoming too difficult to retain mentaly. It was mainly Mary who talked first, but gradually Jesus and Holy Spirit emerged. Their manner was always gentle,
affectionate, intimate, so that I would not be afraid. Still confused we began to study the writing. There has never been any sense of formality connected with the whole affair. It is as if Jesus and Mary in noway wish to interfere with one's daily routine-
when one has a moment- Thy will fit in- if one is too tired- They will leave it until one feels ready.
When I began writing, words would come one after another as I listened.I would have absolutely no idea as to the overall content until I read it on completion.'The Messages' were indeed very meaningful and coherent, dealing with topics such as Happiness, Peace, Love etc. from an ethical or philisophical approach. It soon became obvious to us that there was no way, however hard we tried to convince ourselves otherwise-and we tried very hard- that I, or my subconscious mind could be writing this material. The truth of it all,the depth, the clarity, the perfection of it all were not from me.
What grew abundantly clear as Jesus and Mary talked more and more, is that their main theme is Love - Love and more love- and this Love,in fact needs to be Reciprocal Love - a mutual expression of love- a going outwards in love to join with the other because, according to Mary :- 'The inward looking viewpoint is in fact a dead end".
This involvement with others in love is vital to our whole existence, otherwise as Jesus told me :-'Love of self withers into nothingness'
They talk so much about Reciprocal Love that it is extremely difficult to select a few samples here - all are so beautiful. An early message from Mary defines clearly the need for each individual to move outward in Love- as she says:-
'Active partcipation is important, through communication comes refinement of feeling.Don't deal with things just in abstraction and theory-know the reality through personal involvement.Reciprocal acts of love involve, sharing, giving, and taking, and will lead you to Heaven.Time as such will become meaningless and will merge into Eternity,an ongoing act of love.As the love becomes stronger, its beauty and delight grow more powerful, and the suffering and pain grow less, until finally consumed in Love. This is Heaven, Eternal Love and Bliss without pain.' The Mary ended with the amazing words:-
'If we could be like this on Earth, suffering and pain would diminish-
we have the power."
As I went through the day little jingles would run in my mind,
'Come to Mary come to me,
for we love you tenderly'
Always they asked me to focus on them in times of trouble, fear anxiety:they would draw me through.
Mary assured me:- "Nothing can huurt you if you draw everything to the source which is love"
One night Jesus spoke more firmly than usual emphasizing this message:- " Be like me- Love, Stamp this on your heart"
Constantly, they referred to the world we live in here, with our sights on the material, as an illusion; they so deperately wish to draw us into "The Reality of Love". Mary talked one evening about the other world, and her tone was gentle and pleadng :-
"........do not be afraid of what the world thinks of you, that way you will accomplish very little. One has to go way beyond this world to a world where meaning is completely different;a world where emphasis is placed on things of the heart, where Love is the primary function, and where depth of experience exists utterly truly. This world cannot mislead because its basis is Truth. It is the reality that the human condition is ever searching for and which, when it presents itself even in part, is an overwhelming moment. Do keep true to this ideal, because this is where your happiness lies. Illusion is not here,it is the other world......:It is this world that we live in on earth that they are so concerned about. They watch us building our illusions around us- protecting ourselves from God's Reality and His Love with our negative emotions- our fears, guilt, anxiety, anger, selfishness, bitterness - sometimes hatred. So desperately they want us to share their love, to help us to give it to others. Jesus one night talked of the deeply ingrained suspicion and distrust that exists today among nations and individuals. He is greatly distressed by the way many are living.
These are his words :-
"Trust is a quality found in few people today, because of the overwhelming depravity of society which in turn creates in people a desire to enter their own isolation,as a protection for the wounds which might be inflicted".
This isolation, this shutting oneself away is not the answer. Jesus goes on to explain that this depravity- the evil- has to be met head on, confronted with the power of Love. This power is available to us all, but we are not utilizing it- hence the state of the world. We must unite with courage, strength and the power of Love to drive evil under. As Jesus says;-
" Only if we approach this depravity with courage and strength, are we able to see its meaninglessness when it is driven under by a far more substantial power. We talk about momentum, and this is so vital, because it is on many levels the totally energizing force which gives body to existence in the world. The momentum of Love cannot be crushed.I have shown this through my life on earth and my life in Being thereafter.A Being which is so strong and pervasive that it strength, can be utilised by anyone at any moment in time, until the end of the world. Draw on that strength, Maureen,it is the Holy Spirit in action, and his action is continual,pervasive,non-corruptive and non-destructive. It is the most powerful Power available to Mankind that must be harnessed and used. This you must do with all your energy as a supplement, and the unification will be grand in terms of a reciprocal effort, and a fundamental state of ecstasy."
